The photo above is the scenery of the campus. According to the local professors, they enjoyed rather dry weather until the last week but a huge amount of snow suddenly came up, and now the view is something spectacular. Because I started my academic career there, I know the situation and it is somewhat nostalgic. But of course the real life there is not always enjoyable, due to laborious snow removing activities, for example.

Nevertheless, the workshop itself was successful. For the recording purpose, the program is shown below. All the speakers are invited and no poster session took place due to time constraint.

13:00-13:30 Tomonori Koda (Yamagata Univ): Interface between substrate and liquid crystal of hard repulsive molecules

13:30-14:00 Masato Makino (Yamagata Univ): Dynamics of the Propeller-Like Particles in Simple Shear Flow and Rotating Electric Field

14:00-14:30 Sathith K Sukumaran (Yamagata Univ): Structure of Entanglements in Polymer Blends

14:30-15:00 Jun-ichi Takimoto (Yamagata Univ): Rotation of polymers under fast shear

15:00-15:15 Break

15:15-15:45 Takahiro Murashima (Tohoku Univ): Multiscale simulation of polymer flow developed for K computer

15:45-16:15 Yuichi Masubuchi (Nagoya Univ): Molecular mechanism of strain hardening revealed by multi-chain slip-link simulations

16:15-17:00 Giuseppe Milano (Keynote Lecture, Univ Salerno): Exploring nanomaterials with multiscale simulations for interface and interphase engineering

On the days before and after the conference, I was with Prof. Milano for intensified discussions for possible collaborations. Actually we started the collaboration for merging the simulation techniques developed in both sides, a few years ago, but the activity has been paused, partly due to my relocation to Nagoya, for example. Now we wish to restart it, but of course it depends on the situations, mainly for the budget and human resources.

I greatly appreciate the contributions from the speakers and the attendees.

[3,7,8
